Cette stèle en pierre a été réalisé en taille directe sur pierre. Commande privée (New-York, Etats-Unis).
Cette sculpture représentant le logo de l’UNICEF fut dévoilée le 18 septembre 1990 en France, avant de partir à New York pour le sommet mondial de l’enfance.
La cérémonie d’inauguration eut lieu a New-York, le 1er mai 1991, en présence de toute l’équipe de la « Greeting Card Operation ».
Etaient également présent : Mr. Reinhard Y. Freiberg, Director ; Mr James P. Grant, Executive Director; H.E Mr Daufresne de la Chevalerie, Head of the French delegation to the 1991 UNICEF Executive Board Session; M. Ricatto, Secretary General, FrenchCommitee for UNICEF.
Suite à la réception de cette sculpture à New-York, le directeur de l’UNICEF à New-York, M. Reinhard Y. Freiberg, lui écrit ces quelques mots de félicitations:
This is just a small note to express UNICEF’s very sincere gratitude for the wonderful sculpture you have offered UNICEF in honour of the World Summit for Children, and which, as you may have head in the meantime, has been placed prominently in the entrance hall of the Greeting Card Operation in New York City. The ceremony, which Mr Ricatto attended, was also honoured by the attendance of the French Ambassador and the Executive Director of UNICEF.
I hope that one day you will have an opportunity to see the sculpture when you come through New York. Once more, many thanks for your kind generosity and for your support for UNICEF.
